Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) Cleared For Use in Covid-19

The non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) Ibuprofen, also known as Advil and Motrin has been officially cleared for use in treating symptoms for Covid.

This comes after some early warnings in late March about a concerning observation of increased severity among young healthy adults infected with the Coronavirus, which has now been proven inaccurate.

It is important to note that hypothesizing based on observations is the foundation of science. However, the scientific method requires experimenting to determine if the observation is reproducible. This is an extremely high standard because the human mind has inherent biases that make our observations often unreliable, hence the need for testing and retesting the hypothesis. It is extremely common that initial observations fail to prove accurate, such as the above case with Ibuprofen. This is the layperson’s introduction to science 101.
